Well here we are and I read there was a Cancerian Eclipse yesterday that brought chaos, and boy howdy did it ever around here. Nerve shattering sequence of events that would have made a great comedic movie but frayed my nerves something terrible. With each disaster Curl kept saying, ” light some incense do a protection ritual” and I would just laugh, well by the end the day, I lit some incense and did a protection ritual!!!! :)I got up at 6:30am yesterday to embrace the day and didn’t get to end it until 1:00 am and couldn’t be happier to put it all behind me.But today is a new day( knocks on wood) I will try again. And by the days end there should be some boxes going out. And I forgot to let you guys know here, the bath bombs gave me a terrible struggle. I had to switch suppliers for my citric acid because the one I have been using for years went belly up without notice. And it will in time be fine, but I needed to tweak my recipe to accommodate the change , ( different size acid makes for an adjustment of oils so no cracks), so the bath bombs are coming in either the orbs they normally do or in shapes and in some cases two bath bombs to make make sure the weight is the same or more. It it all depends on if the batch was behaving at the time. Besides the citric acid the weather in the BAy Area has really been unpredictable, going from Africa hot to Arctic cold and causing me frustration and adjustments. This entire collection has made me fight , but thats ok , I can’t have it smooth as silk all the time. So there you go , I will keep updating as I can.I am sooooo excited for you guys to get your orders , I and Curl worked bloody hard on them. I did some new experimental-things with the soap, some more successful then others , but all in all I really hope you are pleased. And I can’t say it enough, I am eternally grateful for you all, not only your patronage, your support, your understanding of the time it takes to make moopoo , but also your enthusiasm!~Thank you!!!Blessings to you all ~moona
Ok- so here we are again , coming near the end of the dreaded TAT, I hate that word I really do, its a mountain and never a mole hill for me to climb, but once the shipping starts it is a downhill race and that’s a lot better then uphill.My estimated TAT is up this coming Thursday , July 23rd- ahhhhhhh!!So where we are right now , and I say we because of my faithful helper Curl — who is amazing!!!!
She is still optimistic we will make it in time but I know far better , so we will a start the shipping this Wednesday or Thursday but there is no way can we pack and ship the hundreds and I do means hundreds of orders all by Thursday, so I estimate the products will be complete by this Wednesday and shipping starting the same day and will bring us into next week after my stated TAT.
So sorry guys, we had day care set up and did not get it yet, they will take minimoo for only two days this week , then we have to wait a few more weeks for an opening. I thought it was all set and I was mistaken and was counting on the Mooman to help with the packing of the boxes, on top of it , the art piece I way under estimated the time it took to complete.
I can’t apologize enough for it, good news is , no more art shows this year, and Curl will ( knocks on wood) be here behind the scenes-helping BEFORE the sales to get me caught up , so that future sales can be kept in a much shorter and realistic TAT! ( there it is again)
Also- your boxes for this ROCK A BILLY sale are coming with mini Halloween preview bags and what a time consuming endeavor they are, and I must say there will be only one per customer ordering and NOT one per order, many many of you have multiple orders and I just can’t give a bag per order. But inside is a little hint as to the BIG surprize coming this Halloween!!!! Tee hee, I am keeping my mouth shut , but its awesome :)
And of course I will combine your orders unless one misses me, but that is a rare case so please don’t worry , and I will then refund any extra shipping fee paid as soon as I print the shipping label. And I only print the shipping labels AFTER THE BOX IS PACKED AND WEIGHED AND READY TO GO OUT THE DOOR in a matter of hours or the next day depended on what time a day it is. So once you see a cns it should not take any longer then 2-4 days, if it does for some rare reason , contact me immediately and we will track and see what’s up , I have only had four boxes go missing in all my years of shipping and they were ALL found, so no worries.
And if the extended TAT is unacceptable for you for any reason please let me know via email and I will see if we have everything ready for your order or orders and ship it before the bulk of shipping starts this Wednesday or Thursday. But please keep in mind if it does ship earlier then the rest , the Halloween goodies bags are not done yet so will not receive one , so in its place I will substitute something else as your free gift.

Hello everyone!
I finished the art piece on time and it was hung in the gallery this past Monday!!!!! YEA!
Curl and I have been hitting the moona front hard , and it will be of course, another nail biter to get all these orders out within stated TAT, but I have not lost hope, Curl is an unbelievably hard worker, and I have dangled a carrot of a gluten free mexican dinner with MARGARITA’s in the wine county in front of her as a reward after we finish, and she looked happy:)
So I will of course make a big announcement here when we pop the shipping cherry , which won’t even start for another week or so. There are so many orders and I lost so much time making the art piece we are even considering putting minimoo in day care earlier then anticipated so the mooman can also help with the shipping- so stay tuned.
And if you are so inclined, I have posted pics of the art piece I did with the help of my construction savvy mooman, on a public facebook folder.
BUT- please don’t get offended if you ask to join my facebook, I do not add anyone who is not related to me .
I am still looking into have a moonalisa facebook, but I am unclear on their privacy policies so why the hesitation for doing so yet.

” The Solace of Frida ” 2009 mixed media

Frida Kahol is the one artist that has had a major influence on me as a visual artist as well as a person. When I was a young art student it was her paintings that drove me near her, as a working artist and young woman it was her dealings with Diego , and as I get older , it is her strength.I actually shielded myself from reading the writings explaining the details of the accident in the past, it was and is just too horrific for my imagination to bear. This piece has been such a struggle with my own fears , for it forced to openly feel and read her journal writings finally, not only about the accident , but also her struggle emotionally , and physical life long pain.I made collage, found and altered objects into representations of her various portraits. I wanted to encapsulate her beautiful paintings as the ” medicine ” she needed to get her thru her life and gives to us , the paintings being her solace , and the tags equal the reality of what she was going thru. I made the tags by dipping them into smoked tea to age them and used archaic medical procedures and device etchings on one side and excerpts from her diaries explaining her pains both emotional and physical on the other side. My hope is to not only show her beauty and comfort, but to also convey her endless torment. I then dipped them in darkened and scented beeswax to preserve them and give them a ” skin” away for the viewer. I used a 1930’s medicine cabinet as a symbolic holder of her “medicine” .I wanted to make the wall that holds the cabinet a reflection of Frida and not of an actual wall in her home , and why the clouds. Clouds are a constant background she uses in her paintings I feel as an ” emotional” backdrop. I used cloud wallpaper instead of painting in the clouds , because I like when the real becomes surreal .I made a wooden scroll connected and hanging from the “cloud” wall to echo her use of scrolls in her work, a place to say what she is thinking.It has always made my heart sad to see her obvious agony of not being able to bear children. I love her use of animals and creatures surrounding her with child like love , and feel so sad she feels she is not a mother. I remember in art school looking around at all these different young women , myself included , huddled up in our painters space ,open Frida Kahlo books in our laps, with dozens of tiny paint splotches on them from endless hours of us trying desperately to somehow learn to paint like her. And so it is this “device” I used to convey something I so wish I could say to her: “ Frida , eres la madre de nosotros “. “Frida- you are a mother to us all.”
It seems like yesterday and I was wishing you all a Happy Fathers Day- whoosh- time flies around here!! Well I hope you all are enjoying your holiday! I am in spirit, but my flesh is frantically finishing up my piece for the Frida Kahlo art exhibit , deadline this MONDAY!!! T-YIKES!! I am almost there, but details details details and the scale is getting me right now - the detail in the bottles is tiny and the wall and scroll are huge so lots of work. On the MOONA front, we have been working on finishing up product during the day, while I work on my art piece at night, so needless to say I will be more then relieved when it is finished. The great news I have about Moona, and some of you already know this , but I have the best Moona helper of all time, Curl!!! Lets hear it for the fastest most accurate worker in the west!!! Pic to follow soon:) Curl and I have worked together for some odd 19 years, at Beach Blanket as well as chefing together- so we are used to each others ways- aka she can put up with my lunacy:) The only draw back is she exhausts me, she works so fast I have to work twice as fast to keep up. If you have ever had an employee you know what I am talking about, you have to do your work as well as make work for another , so twice as much at once, and I get bloody exhausted to keep up- but thats great! So this weekend is super crunch time! One of the biggest challenges I have had yet, this huge Rock-a-billy sale, the art show , all while having a toddler to care for (albeit mooman is the biggest help in the world to me and minimoo just turned one in June!) - so OMG! what was I thinking- but I guess that is what life is all about, not sitting on your butt. So plenty of pics coming after the piece is installed in the gallery, and then its moona, moona moona!!!!!!!
