So I am keeping it short today, since todays is Father day, my hubs first one, and it is also the Summer Solstice! HAPPY SOLSTICE EVERYONE!!! took-some Black Mamba pics but have not had the chance to upload them yet, I will tomorrow. What I am showing you is the work in progress for the upcoming art show I am in , a homage to Frida Kahlo show. The idea behind my piece is the pain and suffering she endured and how her paintings were her solace her “medicine” to get her thru all the torture she endured till her death. I am building a wall covered in cloud wallpaper, clouds being a symbol she used repeatedly as an emotional backdrop, and inserted in the center of this wall is an old medicine cabinet I salvaged from Urban Ore, a very cool scrap yard for artist here in the bay area. Inside this cabinet are glass bottles with corks, waxed with dark beeswax and scented with spices that at first are pleasing then a little sickening on purpose , the tags represent her internal struggle, these tags around the bottles are made with aged paper from smoked tea and images from antique medical devices and procedures, and on the other side of the tags I hand wrote excerpts form her diaries , detailing her journey thru all her numerous medical operations and her physical as well as her emotional suffering . Inside the bottles are collage renditions of her paintings , the beauty she displayed to us all on the outside, these renditions are as “3D’ as I could get in a tiny confined space. Below are a few examples. I am dividing my time currently between the art piece and the Moona Rock-a-Billy sale, I appreciate all your patience, and why I had to keep the TAt big this time. You “old school” moona customers must remember I used to have a lot more art shows every year , then I have time for now, so please bare with me. The piece HAS to be done next week so after that I will be dedicating 100% of my time to getting your orders out to you. Blessings ~moona
